Nordic Modular is engaged in the development, manufacture, sales and rental of relocatable buildings for professional customers in the Nordic countries.

Operations are run through the subsidiaries Temporent, Flexator and Nordic Modular Leasing.
-
Flexator manufactures and sells a variety of buildings; from permanent professional buildings of an advanced natuture to site huts.
-
Temporent rents out temporary modular arrangements with primary focus on offices, schools and preschools.
-
Nordic Modular Leasing offers Flexator's Swedish customers a means to lease relocatable buildings long-term. The operation also encompasses the Hagtornet subsidiary’s rental of student residences.
Modular Buildings are Nothing Like “Barracks”
Historically, modular buildings have been used as simple barracks or as storage facilities on construction sites, but they present far greater possibilities for use. Modular buildings should not be associated with “barracks” which bring to mind simple, sterile buildings. The modular method of construction in itself does not set the standard of the finished building. The method simply entails a higher degree of efficiency so that the building costs can be kept low.
Instead, it is the design that determines the standard. To a layman, it is impossible to differentiate between Flexator’s preschools, schools, offices and homes for the elderly from houses built on-site. The difference is found in the lower price, provided one keeps to Flexator’s product standard.
Even Temporent offers rental modules with all the comfort and functionality of "traditional" houses built on-site. However, there is an important difference between our concept and that behind conventional house construction: Each individual module must be compatible with every other in order for them to be used interchangeably and in different arrangements over time.
A Flexible and Economic Solution
Relocatable modular buildings are an attractive alternative for customers wishing to extend their premises while keeping the disruptions to other activities on site to a minimum.
- As each module is fully completed in the factory prior to being brought out to the building site, the on-site construction time is very short.
- The buyer’s risk of going over budget is also considerably reduced when compared to the contingencies a traditional construction contract can entail.
- As well, the modular construction concept limits the risk of defects and other quality concerns - thanks to the entire process taking place indoors in a controlled factory setting. The factory can boast a constant 18ºC and not a cloud can be seen.
Rental customers have at their disposal a very fast way of increasing their floor space in step with the expansion of their businesses, without needing to tie up capital in buildings. If and when the customer finds that he no longer needs the extra floor space, he can reduce the size of his premises gradually. The fact that modular arrangements can be set up on the customer’s land in direct connection to existing operations provides a unique advantage that could not be gained by renting alternative premises outside the facility.
At present, the public sector accounts for about three quarters of all sales and the commercial sector for the remainder.
